TurboSFV v9.62 - Absolute and relative paths in checksum files |
Notes to TurboSFV v9.62:
In TurboSFV, you have the option to use either absolute or relative paths in the checksum file (hash file). Both modes have advantages and disadvantages, for example, if relative paths are used, then it's possible to move an entire folder
tree including hash file to a different location and the files can still be validated. You can't however move the hash file to another drive and validate from there. Then absolute paths including drive letter or UNC paths must be
used.
Up to now, you adjusted this setting in the configuration and based on it, path information was added to the hash file. The disadvantage was, if you had to switch between the two modes, you had to open again the configuration dialog and to
change the setting. Furthermore, you couldn't easily see, which mode is actually active without to enter again this
dialog.
This is now past: There is a new menu entry in the explorer context menu as well as in the TurboSFV main menu, which implements a switch for toggling between relative and absolute path. In the menu, you can easily see, which mode is
active. Additionally, the state of the menu entries (checked or unchecked) will be kept separately, so in the main menu you can have this entry checked while leaving it in the explorer context menu
unchecked.
If you don't need this menu entry, because you are always using relative paths, then it's possible to hide it by checking the appropriate checkbox in the configuration on the tab sheet Shell (User).
