TurboSFV v9.00 - Checksum files for BLAKE3 hash function |
Notes to TurboSFV v9.00:
TurboSFV version 9 supports the BLAKE3 hash function with output lengths of 256, 512, 1024 and 2048 bits. Checksums are actually calculated by using one single CPU. The algorithm itself supports parallel computing, because it is based on a
binary tree, where sub trees can be computed in a parallel manner and - at the end - assembled in a way, that the same checksum will be produced as it was calculated on a single processor. We will have a look on parallel computing of
BLAKE3 checksums at a later time - the message here is, that BLAKE3 checksums won't
change.
If you see a need for other output lengths than offered, please flag it here by also mentioning your application - additional extended output lengths (XOF's) are possible.
With version 9, there is a new edition of TurboSFV, the eXtended Edition (XE), which allows automated calculation of checksums by a native service application, running in the background, without that a user must be logged on. If you were
waiting for such an application, which is able to do that - well there is now one and you can even try TurboSFV (XE) before buying a
license.
The new edition starts with version 9, not with version 1, because it's based on and in line with the core code of TurboSFV version 9. If you have suggestions or miss a feature, than leave a message here or use the normal support ways.
