TurboSFV v8.54 - Add or remove files from checksum files |
Some users are maintaining big hash files with huge lists of files. From time to time, new files need to be added to the hash file, other files don't longer exist and must be removed.
TurboSFV basically supported this: A list of files from a hash file could be validated, new files could be added by using the find new functionality and missed files could be removed from the list by using a filter. Then, from the file
list, a new hash file could be
generated.
However all files had to be validated first, before they could be added to a new hash file - and this could take time.
In version 8.54, there is no longer this limit: Any file from the list can be added to the new hash file, either validated or not. If validated, then the calculated hash value is taken, otherwise the one coming from the old hash file.
In the new hash file, you will find some statistics (old vs. new hash file), for example how many files are new or changed and for how many files a checksum was actually calculated. Optionally, this information can be broken down for each
file.
So it's no longer necessary to validate all files: Simply interrupt the calculation process and manage your file list.
